how to estimate the impact of medication adherence and persistence on the cost-effectiveness

I want to estimate the impact of medication adherence and persistence on the cost-effectiveness of the specific therapy, however, I don’t know how to address in the TreeAge software?

1. How to record the time from initiated treatment to discontinued therapy using the tracker?

2. We assumed that the medicine still has the effect of stopping therapy, the lasting effect will start to decline linearly to zero for 1 year. How to achieve this in the TreeAge?

Thank you!

  • This is a bit tricky, and I agree that you are best served with a Microsimulation Markov model. These are my suggestions.

    1. Create a tracker that records when a patient discontinues therapy.
      t_discontinue_stage = _stage
    2. Create a variable defined at the root node that calculates time since discontinuation.
      time_discontinued = _stage - t_discountinue_stage
    3. Create a separate calculation based on time_discontinued that calculates the lasting impact of the discontinued therapy.

    I hope this helps.

  • Andrew Munze,

    Thanks very much.

    Please forgive me for delaying reply due to too many affairs to deal with recently.

    And could you tell me your email address so that we can further discuss?
