Changing Charts to Black and White for Publications.
Starting with a default color chart, select the "Edit Chart" from the Actions field to the right of the chart. Edit Chart dialog will open up. Note that sometimes this dialog needs to be expanded in order to see all of the buttons available (There is typically a scroll bar that allows you to see buttons that may be hidden on a small computer screen).
Select "Format Chart" tab at the top of the dialog window.
Select "Series" (first entry on the left side of the dialog)
Now you should see a button called "Series Palette" - select it to change the colors/patterns of the data series.
New window "Series Palette" Opens up and presents the sequence of default colors used for the chart data. Click on the first color bar (Typically blue if it was not changed to some other color).
A color palette opens up with some additional buttons for changing the colors, custom image, patterns. For Black and White charts the Pattern button may be the most useful.
Change the next color series (typically red) into a different pattern, continue changing colors into patterns for all series in the chart. (Note that the Series Palette shows only "Series 1" tab, but the data series palettes are shown in sequence as bars within that dialog tab). You can also re-order the color/patterns that will be applied to your chart.
Additionally you may want to change the lines connecting data points to be drawn as black lines rather than patterned lines. In order to do that please expand the "Series" choices by pressing on a small triangle preceding "Series" on the left side of the dialog. This should reveal "Value (Y) Series" select it and now there should be visible Series Details. Please un-check the box "Use Series Palette as Line Color" and it should use solid lines connecting data points.
Note that Button "Markers" allows you to change the size of the series markers used in your graph.
